Emotional Changes
After your surgery you may find that your concentration span is reduced. This can be frustrating, however it is a common occurrence following heart surgery and you can be assured that it usually will resolve within six weeks.
Major surgery causes stress, high emotions, physical tiredness and sometimes loss of confidence. Mild depression is very common following discharge home and may occur quite unexpectedly. You may also have strange or disturbing dreams whilst in hospital and after discharge. These will pass. Talk to the staff or a family member as this can help to ease any anxieties you may be feeling and this will help you to regain your confidence.
