หงส์ระทึก! นายทุนดูไบรุกคืบเจรจาเทคโอเวอร์


ทีม "หงส์แดง" ลิเวอร์พูล มาถึงจุดตัดที่สำคัญในหน้าประวัติศาสตร์อีกครั้ง เมื่อเตรียมต้อนรับกลุ่มทุนใหม่จากดูไบ ที่จะเข้ามาเทคโอเวอร์สโมสร โดยขณะนี้การเจรจาผ่านขั้นแรกไปเรียบร้อยแล้ว

ก่อนหน้านี้ ลิเวอร์พูล มีความพยายามที่จะหาเงินทุนใหม่เข้ามาเพื่อช่วยฐานะการเงินของอดีตทีมเจ้าเกาะอังกฤษ ที่มีปัญหาทั้งในเรื่องของหนี้สินกว่า 80 ล้านปอนด์ และเงินที่จะสร้างสนามใหม่อีกกว่า 200 ล้านปอนด์ แต่ไม่ประสบความสำเร็จเลยในช่วง 3 ปีที่ผ่านมา

แต่ในช่วงสุดสัปดาห์ที่ผ่านมา เริ่มมีข่าวว่าทางด้านบอร์ดบริหารแห่งแอนฟิลด์ นำโดยเดวิด มัวร์ส ประธานสโมสร และริค แพร์รี่ ประธานบริหาร ได้ตอบรับขั้นต้นจากกลุ่มทุนในดูไบ ที่ยื่นข้อเสนอขอเทคโอเวอร์เข้ามาอย่างเป็นทางการแล้ว

โดยขณะนี้ทางกลุ่มทุนจากดูไบ ในนาม "ดูไบ อินเตอร์เนชั่นแนล แคปิตัล" (DIC) กำลังทำการตรวจสอบบัญชีตามขั้นตอนอยู่ ซึ่งหากไม่มีปัญหาก็จะทำการเจรจาในขั้นต่อไปได้

ล่าสุดทางด้านซาเมียร์ อัล-อันซารี่ ประธานบริหารของ DIC ได้ออกมายืนยันว่ากำลังทำการเจรจาเรื่องการเทคโอเวอร์อยู่จริง และคาดหวังที่จะบรรลุการเจรจาในเร็วๆนี้

"เราหวังว่าเราจะสามารถบรรลุข้อตกลงที่จะทำให้เราได้มีโอกาสได้ลงทุนทั้งในและนอกสนาม"

อย่างไรก็ดี คาดว่าการเจรจาครั้งนี้จะใช้เวลาอีกระยะหนึ่ง และจะไม่เสร็จสิ้นจนกว่าจะถึงปีหน้าแน่นอน แต่คาดว่าไม่น่าจะมีปัญหาเหมือนที่ผ่านมาแต่อย่างใด

สำหรับ DIC ก่อนหน้านี้เคยซื้อกิจการของพิพิธภัณฑ์หุ่นขี้ผึ้งมาดามทุสโซ่ต์ และ "ลอนดอนอาย" ซึ่งเป็นสถานที่ท่องเที่ยวสำคัญของกรุงลอนดอน และยังมีส่วนเชื่อมโยงกับตระกูลมัคตูม ซึ่งเป็นหนึ่งในตระกูลที่ร่ำรวยที่สุดในโลกอีกด้วย

โดยผู้นำของตระกูลมัคตูม ก็คือชีค โมฮัมเหม็ด บิน ราชิด อัล-มัคตูม ดำรงค์ตำแหน่งเป็นรองประธานธิบดีสหรัฐอาหรับ เอมิเรตส์ และเป็นนายกรัฐมนตรีอีกด้วย

ด้านลิเวอร์พูล เคยพยายามทำการเจรจากับนายทุนหลายกลุ่ม อาทิ สตีฟ มอร์แกน ผู้ถือหุ้นรายใหญ่อันดับ 3 ของสโมสรในขณะนี้ ,โรเบิร์ต คราฟท์ เจ้าของทีมอเมริกันฟุตบอลนิวอิงแลนด์ เพเทรียตส์ ,ไมค์ เจฟฟรีย์ จากกลุ่ม L4 รวมถึงพ.ต.ท.ดร.ทักษิณ ชินวัตร อดีตนายกรัฐมนตรีไทย

ขณะเดียวกันข่าวการเตรียมโดนเทคโอเวอร์นี้ ทำให้ลิเอร์พูล จะเป็นทีมระดับพรีเมียร์ชิพทีมล่าสุดที่โดนนายทุนจากต่างชาติเข้ามายึดกิจการ ต่อจากเชลซี ,แมนฯ ยูไนเต็ด ,ปอร์ทสมัธ ,แอสตัน วิลล่า และเวสต์แฮม

DIC eyes Liverpool as a business

Dubai: Speculation surrounding the takeover of Liverpool Football Club has reached boiling point in recent days with Dubai International Capital (DIC) emerging as the lead bidder in a potential £450 million deal.

DIC, the international investment arm of Dubai Holding, recently released a statement confirming it has entered into a period of exclusive negotiations with Liverpool about a possible investment in the club.

"DIC has a strong track record as a very serious investor with considerable resources at its disposal," said Sameer Al Ansari, CEO at DIC and a Liverpool fan.

"At the same time, we are supporters - of the game and of the club. Liverpool's investment requirements have been well publicised and we hope we can agree a deal that will provide the club with the funds it needs, both on and off the pitch."

The DIC bid will cover the stadium costs, around £80 million of debts and a controlling stake in the equity, which Liverpool's current majority shareholder David Moores has valued at £170 million.

Controversial move

The interest has led to considerable column inches in the British media, with huge speculation over DIC's plans for the club. DIC itself refused to comment further on the details of its potential investment.

The Sunday Times said a senior DIC source involved in the deal is "80 per cent positive" the buyout will go ahead and be completed "by the turn of the year".

The paper quotes the source as saying DIC would build a new stadium and invest in players, but says there would be "no blank cheques".

"We're serious investors looking for returns. Liverpool won't turn into Chelsea, but it will become closer to Manchester United," the source said in the article.

According to a football finance expert quoted in the Evening Standard, Liverpool's potential new owners will be able to make a decent return on their £450 million investment only if they revisit proposals for a groundshare with arch-rivals Everton.

The paper says both clubs dismissed the idea, but quotes Professor Tom Cannon, dean of the University of Buckingham, as insisting the controversial move is the only way DIC could make the deal work.

Although Cannon rates the chances of the Dubai takeover going through as high, he believes that DIC could still walk away if they cannot see a way of significantly increasing profits. A ground-sharing move is the only way DIC could increase profits to an acceptable level, the paper says.

The Evening Standard also quoted experts as saying American multi-millionaire George Gillett (owner of NHL ice hockey team the Montreal Canadiens) could return with an improved bid if the DIC deal does not go through.

Meanwhile sources quoted in Sunday's edition of The Observer say DIC is buying Liverpool as a business rather than a trophy asset or expensive hobby and will not splurge millions on the world's best players to ensure that the Reds rediscover their former footballing glory.

The source suggests DIC could boost profits by selling naming rights to the new stadium, renegotiating sponsorship arrangements, or even mortgaging future gate revenues.

But the paper's source also suggests that high spending on Liverpool to achieve success would send out a strong message that Dubai is becoming a force to be reckoned with in the world.
